Experienced over 18 years of midwifery history, predominately as a Midwife in the Community setting, I completed the Tongue Tie division training program based in Southampton to ensure my knowledge and competence levels are adequate to complete the assessment and perform the procedure safely. I continue to update and refresh my learning and knowledge about Tongue Tie each year and at each possible opportunity. I am also on the committee as the Membership Secretary for the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners, see http://www.tongue-tie.org.uk for more information about the ATP. I have a wealth of breastfeeding support experience through my role in Community midwifery and as a qualified Lactation Consultant with the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants(IBCLCs). This entailed significant further training and a 4-hour exam at the end!! It is a requirement to re-certify every 5 years, proving the continued professional development and training achieved during this period. I am due to re-certify in 2027. I can work with babies to support their bodies in this transition and healing that may be required, with a light touch gentle approach known as Craniosacral Therapy.
