The BSMFT Directory of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapists


We are delighted to introduce to you our directory of BSMFT – Approved and Vetted Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy Practitioners. (OMTP)

These OMTPs have gone through the BSMFT vetting process and have proven to be registered licensed clinicians who have been adequately trained and hold a professional and medical indemnity that allows them to provide Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy to their patients.

These OMFTPs have access to monthly Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and regular updates within the field. They have access to clinical supervision through their BSMFT membership as well as the support of a multidisciplinary medical advisory board.

I am a qualified independent Speech and Language Therapist and owner of Core Speech. I have vast experience in working with infants and children with a range of communication and feeding needs. My specialisms and areas of clinical interest include motor speech disorders, gestalt language processing and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).

Core Speech is based in Leyland and provides mobile sessions in the child’s home or educational setting across Lancashire. I also provide Telehealth sessions across the UK.

As a paediatric speech and language therapist, I specialise in working in both settings with students between 18 months to 18 years to have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). I am also a qualified Oro-facial Myologist having completed my training at the Australian Academy of Oro-facial Myology in August 2019.

I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a bachelors in BMed Sci Speech Science. Since then, I have had additional training to develop my knowledge in this field. Trainings include Talk tools, Zones of regulation, Lidcombe programme, speech and language support for specific learning difficulties (Elklan,), Speech and Language support for complex needs (Elklan). I also have an interest in working with children who have English as an additional language (EAL) and SLCN. In addition, I have also completed the Neurolinguistic programming (NLP).

Eva started in Dentistry at the age of 15 working for a friend of the family. Then on completing A levels, she went to King’s College Hospital to train and then work as a Dental Nurse. In 1997, she qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist from the St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, gaining awards for the best clinical Dental Therapist and highest dental hygiene examination results.

Since qualifying as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 1997, she has worked in a private practice and cared for clients from a direction of Prevention, Education and Minimal intervention (PEMi). Since 2003, Eva has helped to support and evolve an orthodontic/TMD clinic and associated protocols. Over the years she has worked closely with Dentists, Orthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Cranial Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Biomechanists, Bowen Integrated Therapy practitioners, respiratory specialists, nutritionists, cell biologists, immunologists and neurologists.

With the small body of practitioners now providing myofunctional care in the UK, she is pleased to be one of the founding members of the British Society of Myofunctional Therapy. Eva is also a member of The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy, The British Association of Dental Therapists, The International Association of Orofacial Myology, and the International College of Applied Kinesiology.

Caroline is a Dental Hygienist/Therapist living and working in the North East of England. She qualified from Newcastle Dental School with a Diploma in Hygiene and Therapy in 2009 and then gained her BSc in Dental Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire in 2015. Since qualifying, she has worked in both the NHS and private settings, and also as a clinical tutor at the University of Teesside. With an inquisitive mind in the quest to understand more about the human body in relation to dental disease, she is currently working towards an MSc in Nutritional Science and practice. This will allow her to look at the individual and implement lifestyle medicine to reduce inflammatory factors that contribute to dental and overall health issues. As part of this whole body health, she has trained in the areas of Myofunctional Therapy, Buteyko Breathing, Massage Therapy, and Dental Acupuncture. She currently runs her Myofunctional Therapy clinic from an integrated Chiropractor’s clinic in Gateshead and her passion is to connect with as many like-minded practitioners in her area, to work as a team to help our patients improve function and overall health.

Ildiko has over 7 years of experience in dentistry. She is friendly, calm, gentle, and kind.

Ildiko’s amicable nature immediately puts everyone at ease. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, in particular orthodontics and paediatric dentistry. She loves to get involved in understanding the details of each case she assists with.

She now holds NEBDA National Diploma in Dental Nursing and attended a comprehensive online training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy in March 2022.

I have been working in dentistry since 2008. In 2016 I completed my dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist degree from the University of Portsmouth with first class honours.

Since qualifying, I have worked in private and specialist practices where I mainly concentrate on oral health and the prevention of gum disease. My passion and sometimes frustration led me to undertake numerous postgraduate courses, as I always felt there is more that I could offer to my patients.

I am a qualified Orofacial myofunctional therapist, I have completed the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy course and Buteyko Breathing Practitioner and Oxygen Advantage Practitioner course and at present, this field remains my main interest.

CAROLE RECEIVED HER TRAINING FROM THE ROYAL AIR FORCE AND WENT ON TO BECOME THE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF DENTAL HYGIENE TRAINING FOR THE RAF, AFTER TAKING THE QUEENS COMMISSION.

She has since worked in a range of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery departments for both the NHS and private practices and as a locum in a corporate structure.

A member and Honorary Secretary of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy, Carole is currently the chairperson of the Thames Valley Regional Group of the BSDHT, and a member of the British Society of Periodontology. Dedicated to her chosen field, Carole regularly travels to attend post-qualification training and has visited New Orleans and Seattle to learn from leaders in the field.
